Once people register I can give them admin privileges, so you can modify the site layout too.

I'm not exactly sure if these 'admin' privileges allow you to invite new editors. If they do not, I suggest registering a fake common co-op account and moving this blog under that account. This will make it easier to hand off control over the years, assuming interest in this blog persists.
